2012 Mission Trip – Important Announcement

Dear Parents:

Hello! It is hard to believe that I am already mentioning summer events for 2012 and the year is not even here yet. However, Christmas will be here before you know it and then the start of a new year, 2012! I am writing early so that you and your student can begin to pray about an important and truly exciting opportunity for the summer of 2012. I am certain that this opportunity will challenge and inspire your teen to grow in their Christian faith.

This coming summer, July 1st-7th, our student ministry (9th-12th graders*), in conjunction with the NC Baptist Men will participate in a mission trip toNew York City! That’s right, the Big Apple!

The heart of the Great Commission is to make disciples,18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.” — Matthew 28:18-20.

These were some of the last words Jesus spoke to His disciples. In 2011, our students had the opportunity to participate in local mission including our own community, (Jerusalem) and the state ofNorth Carolina, (ourJudea). This is our primary mission field and the work is an ongoing process. When we cast our twelve-four-one vision back in January of 2011, the vision was to see students participate in local, national, and global missions. Thus, we have implemented a three-year plan for missions that will enable students (disciples) to be involved in hands on missions around the world.

Please join us in prayer and support as we to take the Gospel message toNew York City. According to NC Baptist website,New York Cityconsists of “8.5 million inhabitants who speak nearly 500 languages,New York Cityis one of the most diverse and influential cities in the world.” This will be an awesome opportunity for your student to take the gospel to ourSamaria, theUnited States of America.

There are a limited number of spaces available. As a result, the student ministry will need to provide firm numbers and a reservation deposit. It will be necessary for each student planning to attend to pay a $75 non-refundable deposit by Sunday, January 15th. The total cost of the mission camp week will be around $650.00, which includes the $75 deposit. I have included a breakdown of the cost below. If you have more than one teen in the student ministry, each additional teen may attend at half the price of the previous student.

Lodging   and meals $310.00 Meals   to and from NYC and Wednesday supper are not included (2 lunches, 1 dinner). Money due: January 15th
$75.00   depositMoney due: June 17th remaining   balance of $235. 00.
Roundtrip   Airfare $255.00 Guesstimate!   This money is non-refundable. Money due: March 18th
On-hand   Cash $85.00 On-hand   cash for meals, snacks, and souvenirs. Money due: at time of trip

I am committed to help each student compile and send out letters to assist them with methods to raise funds for the trip. There are eight months until this trip and that should be adequate time for students to raise the funds. Please do not allow cost to be a deciding factor in whether your student attends this mission trip.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns regarding this or any other Grove Student Ministry event or policy, please feel free to speak with me. My door is always open and your teens are my priority. I am looking forward to a great summer experience that will manifest itself in teens that know and follow God more closely in 2012.

In Christ,

Brad Lee
Student Pastor
